Meditation Benefits

Meditation is a natural complement to the Eat Burn Sleep anti-inflammatory lifestyle. With nourishing foods, regular movement, quality rest, and balanced nutrition, your body and mind can work in harmony. Adding guided meditation to your daily routine enhances this process, supporting calmness, focus, and emotional balance, essential aspects of overall mental wellness and your journey to becoming your healthiest self.

We tend to get out of bed and rush into our morning routine without thought. Taking a moment to reflect between waking up and starting your day can be quite impactful. It helps:

  • Reduce mindless eating
  • Feel more positive and happier
  • Have clearly defined goals for your day
  • Be more mindful of everything you do

Several studies have shown that meditation:

  • Increases serotonin (the happy hormone)
  • Increases melatonin (the sleep hormone. Serotonin is a precursor to melatonin)
  • Increases dopamine (the reward hormone)
  • Decreases cortisol levels (the stress hormone)
  • Increases DHEA (the youth hormone)
  • Increases GABA (the calm hormone which promotes good digestion)
  • Increases endorphins (the natural high neurotransmitter)
  • Increases Human Growth Hormone (linked to fat loss and youth)

Daily Meditation

We suggest you write a little card that you place next to your bed. Upon waking up, read it, and close your eyes for a few minutes. Meditate on it. Place it back on your nightstand and start your day. You will know it by heart at some point, so you can do this little meditation with your eyes closed. If you are religious, a religious prayer works equally well. The evening meditation is very similar to the morning one. Do it in bed, right before going to sleep.

This might sound a little crazy to you if you aren’t used to it. This wasn’t a natural practice for Yalda for many years since she comes from an atheist family.

In the spirituality section, you can read about how daily prayer and meditation became one of the pillars of her remission.

Carrying anger, resentment, and worry makes us unhealthy.

Health Fact

60% of an adult’s neurotransmitters are in the gut; therefore, being upset makes our guts less healthy. 70% of the immune system (GALT – Gut Associated Lymphoid Tissue) is located in the digestive tract.

Keeping a healthy and positive outlook on life supports one’s gut health and one’s immune system function.

No matter what is going on, you must do your morning and evening meditations.

Doing your daily morning and evening meditation is essential to program your subconscious mind to keep your healthy routine and reach your goals. As explained above, it also raises your vibration and helps you be happier, lower your stress levels, and be the best version of yourself.

Check out the Mental Wellness section of the Lifestyle Guide for more details on why you should meditate and how to do it. It is so simple, easy, and yields tremendous results!
